Crash Handled by Calif. Crew

  Long Beach Fire Department crews responded to the northbound 710 freeway for a crash involving a vehicle and a rig. A 26-year old male driver was trapped inside his four-door sedan. His vehicle was struck on the driver's side with such force, his door and the side were pushed in on top of him, trapping him in the wreckage. It took fire crews 10 minutes, using extrication tools to cut the injured man from his wrecked car. He was transported to a local trauma center in moderate distress with numerous injuries to his left side.

He was wearing his seat belt. No other injuries were reported.
