Union Colony, CO Firefighters Battle 2 Alarm Blaze

At 4:40 AM fire personnel were dispatched to the Big-R Farm Store.

At 4:40 AM fire personnel were dispatched to the Big-R Farm Store. The first unit arrived on scene in 2 minutes and 51 seconds and found fire coming out the front windows of the store.

They immediately called a "2nd Alarm" which brought more on-duty equipment and personnel to the scene, as well as off duty staff and firefighting personnel. A total of 5 engine companies, 1 ladder company, 1 rescue company, the Hazmat Vehicle and team members responded to the scene for a total of approximately 40 personnel who worked the fire.

The fire was brought under control in approximately 2 ? hours, and completely extinguished all hot spots in approximately 8 hours.

Investigators have determined the fire's origin to be accidental, and are in the process of examining and analyzing several appliances as possible ignition sources. No injuries of citizens or fire personnel were reported. The owner estimated a 2 million dollar loss.
