Firefighters Battle Huge Fire at New York Strip Mall

On Monday, December 6, 2004, at 11:07 PM, dispatch received a report of a structure fire in a commercial strip mall. Smoke was reported coming from the structure, and fire was later confirmed by both the police and fire departments enroute.

When firefighters first arrived, they encountered a heavy smoke condition. Entry to fire building was also delayed by metal security gates. Upon entry, firefighters found heavy fire conditions, fire through the roof and in the cocklofts. Attack teams were pulled out by IC and switched to exterior operations.

Fifteen departments battled the blaze with 175 firefighters on scene.
