Sea Bright, New Jersey Firefighters Respond To Collapsing Church Steeple

On the afternoon of Wednesday, December 1, 2004 the Sea Bright Fire Department was disapatched to the United Methodist Church for a collapsing steeple.

On the afternoon of Wednesday, December 1, 2004 the Sea Bright Fire Department was disapatched to the United Methodist Church for a collapsing steeple.

Upon arrival the steeple of the church was swaying in the 40 mph winds.

Mutual aid from Highlands Fire Department was requested for a tower ladder.

After inspection, the decision was made by OEM coordinator Pete Lang, Sr. to remove the steeple from the church.

After 3 hours the operation ended sucessfully with the fiberglass steeple on the ground, and the threat of collapse abated.

The incident commander was Fire Chief Peter Perrine.
