On the afternoon of Wednesday, December 1, 2004 the Sea Bright Fire Department was disapatched to the United Methodist Church for a collapsing steeple.
Upon arrival the steeple of the church was swaying in the 40 mph winds.
Mutual aid from Highlands Fire Department was requested for a tower ladder.
After inspection, the decision was made by OEM coordinator Pete Lang, Sr. to remove the steeple from the church.
After 3 hours the operation ended sucessfully with the fiberglass steeple on the ground, and the threat of collapse abated.
The incident commander was Fire Chief Peter Perrine.
