GARWOOD, WY -- On November 27, 2004, the Mullens Fire Department responded to a 1 AM blaze that destroyed a 2-story, wood frame apartment building in Eastern Wyoming Co. on Route 10 near Herndon.
The building, which was constructed in the 1890's contained two apartments, and housed four people. All occupants were able to exit the building prior to Fire Department arrival. One man was transported to a medical facility due to smoke inhalation.
There were no hydrants in the area, and a small stream was utilized as water supply.
Balloon construction contributed to rapid fire spread. Four exposures were also a concern, but no major damage was reported to any exposure.
The Mullens Fire Department responded with 12 members, two engines, a tanker/pumper, and a rescue. Members remained on scene until 7 AM extinguishing flare-ups.
