Conn. FFs Tackle Five-Alarmer

  A raging five-alarm fire tore through a furniture warehouse in East Hartford on Monday morning. The fire broke out about 9 a.m. at Office Furniture Rental Alliance. All workers escaped safely. As the flames consumed the building, which stored chairs, bookcases and other office furniture, the roof and at least east one wall collapsed. A huge plume of smoke could be seen for miles.

As the flames consumed the building, which stored chairs, bookcases and other office furniture, the roof and at least east one wall collapsed. A huge plume of smoke could be seen for miles.

Dozens of firefighters from Glastonbury, Hartford, Manchester, New Britian, South Windsor and West Hartford were called to help tame the flames using elevated master streams and ground appliances.
