Dec. 3, 2009
Rochester crews rescued a man after he fell from the Main Street Bridge into the Genesee River on Friday night. Units were dispatched to the downtown bridge around 11 p.m. after witnesses saw the man tumble from the bridge. By the time crews arrived, he had gotten himself to a support beam where he was wating for help. Firefighter Greg Drew, assigned to Rescue 11, was lowered by rope to the man. Drew helped tie the man and crews on the bridge. The two were hoisted back up. It took about 15 minutes to remove the man.
