Firefighters from Niagara Fire Company were dispatched to 10 Chapel Ave. at approximately 6:55 p.m. for a dwelling fire.
As companies signed on, the Camden County Communications Center advised units that they were receiving multiple calls and also a report of people trapped.
Crews found a two-and-a-half story wood-frame house with heavy fire showing from the A corner and A and D sides.

Crews stretched and attacked the fire with three inch-and-three-quarter inch handlines. Crews encountered fire conditions on the secod floor and extinguished it. They opened up checking for extension.
Primary and secondary searches proved negative. According to neighbors, the family had just left the house prior to the fire starting. Command requested additional resources to assist at the fire.
The fire was placed under control approximately 8 p.m. The Camden County Fire Marshal is investigating the cause of the fire.
