Huge Fire Rips Through N.Y. Store

  Rochester, NY -- At around noon on Monday, Nov. 23, the Rochester Fire Department was alerted for a possible fire at the Family Dollar Store in the 1700 block of North Clinton Ave on the city's north side. Quint and Midi-6 arrived on scene moments later and the officer of Quint-6 requested a second alarm, a short time later Incident Command requested a third alarm.

Rochester, NY -- At around noon on Monday, Nov. 23, the Rochester Fire Department was alerted for a possible fire at the Family Dollar Store in the 1700 block of North Clinton Ave on the city's north side.

Quint and Midi-6 arrived on scene moments later and the officer of Quint-6 requested a second alarm, a short time later Incident Command requested a third alarm.

Very quickly the fire consumed the Family Dollar Store so firefighters made efforts to prevent the spread of the fire to the auto refinishing business to the south and the remainder of the strip mall which contained several business's to the north.

Mutual aid requests for Tower Ladders and Pumpers with large diameter brought eight departments from Monroe County to the scene.

There were several minor injuries to firefighters.

The fire was brought under control at about 5:30 p.m. and firefighters remained on the scene.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
