Firefighters Extricate Victim in Arkansas MVA

Shortly after 12 p.m. noon on Wednesday, November 17, 2004, Sylvan Hills Rescue 46, Truck 45 and Sherwood Engine 5 were dispatched to a head-on motor vehicle accident near the 8100 block of Arkansas Highway 161.

Shortly after 12 p.m. noon on Wednesday, November 17, 2004, Sylvan Hills Rescue 46, Truck 45 and Sherwood Engine 5 were dispatched to a head-on motor vehicle accident near the 8100 block of Arkansas Highway 161.

Sherwood Command (Chief Lee Church) arrived and confirmed he had a car and a parked semi-trailer with one entrapped in the vehicle. He requested the "Jaws" from Rescue 46.

SHFD R-46 and SFD E-5 arrived and started the extrication.SHFD T-45 set up a landing zone for BAPTIST MED-FLIGHT.

After the removal of the roof and driver door, the priority 1 patient was packaged by EMS and transported to the awaiting helicopter.

Other agencies involed were: MEMS, AET EMS, and Arkansas State Police.

Cause of the accident is under investigation.
