On November 11, 2004, a fully loaded garbage truck was involved in a roll over/pin job while trying to exit the New Jersey Turnpike.
The Carteret Volunteer Fire Department as well as the Carteret Fire Dept Career EMS and Fire Department responded.
Upon EMS arrival, there was one occupant pinned in the driver's seat with the cab partially collapsed around him and a light smoke condition. Carteret Engine 4 was the first Engine on scene and extrication procedures began.
Within seven minutes of arrival, the driver was extricated and carried up the hill to the waiting EMS rig.
Carteret recieved Mutual Aid from both Station 7 Woodbridge to cover the town and Elizabeth on scene.
