Just after 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 6, firefighters and paramedics from Beltsville and Laurel Fire/EMS Stations responded to a multi-vehicle crash with two occupants trapped in the wreckage of their vehicles.

The crash occurred in the 12800 block of Baltimore Avenue, just north of the Muirkirk Road overpass. There were a total of four vehicles involved that sustained some type of damage.

Off-duty firefighters were able to relay to responding fire/EMS crews of the number and types of injuries. Upon arrival, a second heavy-duty rescue squad from Berwyn Heights Fire/EMS Station #814 was requested as two vehicles had the driver trapped, and required extrication.

However, it was not needed as firefighters from the Laurel Rescue Squad worked quickly to free the most seriously injured trapped occupant first, and then proceeded to extricate the second driver from the other vehicle.

Paramedics transported a teen-aged female and adult male to a trauma center. Both patients were suffering from potentially serious injuries.

All injuries appeared to be non-life threatening. Maryland State Police in College Park are investigating the crash.
