City of Rocky Mount, N.C. firefighters responded to a vacant warehouse fire Saturday, Oct. 24, at 7:04 a.m.

Crews found flames coming through the roof of a 13,000 square ft. heavy timber construction warehouse. Fire crews established a defensive operation utilizing two aerials, master stream devices, and multiple hand lines.

Heavy winds combined with a large volume of fire created poor visibility during the initial phase of the operation. The department responded two battalions chiefs, three engines, two aerials, two squads, and one EMS unit along with several command support staff totaling 52 personnel on scene.

The incident was brought under control in approximately two hours.
