On November 1, 2004 at 4:35 the Alvarado, Texas Fire Department was dispatched to a report of an accident on I-35 North bound involving a semi truck. Upon arrival they found a semi trailer balanced on a bridge guard rail, half on and half off, with the semi tractor on its side with the whole rear end ripped out.

The driver lost control on rain slick roads taking out the guard rail just prior to the bridge over railroad tracks. The semi trailer was balanced on top of the bridge side rail with the trailer wheels hanging in mid air over the railroad tracks under the bridge.

I-35 North bound lanes were closed for over four hours and all train traffic was halted until the trailer could be removed.
