Just after Eden Prairie firefighters had finished up at an accident scene, Eden Prairie Communications received the report of a residential structure fire in the 10800 block of Northmark Drive.

Eden Prairie Chief-4 and a fully staffed Engine-11 were enroute from Station-1. Chief-1 from the responded from the previous accident scene and Ladder-2 responded from their station, about 1/2 mile from the address.

Chief-4 notified units of a confirmed fire with heavy smoke showing from the area while responding.

Units arrived on the scene. Ladder 2, a 100' tower/quint, grabbed the hydrant across from the address and pulled two 1 3/4 inch pre-connects and a 2 1/2 inch pre-connect. Engine-11's crew backed up members of Ladder-2 as they began to attack the well involved attached garage of the split-level single family home.

Heavy fire impinging on the firewall gave way to only a slight breach near the crown of the main home.

Squad's 22 and 11 arrived with additional crews, as members laddered the main home and proceeded to open up the roof.

A precautionary exposure line was laid from E-11 to the B side exposure.

Arriving Engine-5 laid down the block to supply Engine 11 and back-up crews.

The bulk of the fire was knocked down within thirty minutes.

Crews remained on scene for several hours for overhaul and final extinguishment. Squad-33 arrived with fresh crews and Chanhassen's Engine and L-1 to provide relief.
