San Miguel Firefighters Battle Two Alarm Structure Fire in California

On Wednesday, October 7, 2004, at 2:34 PM, San Miguel Consolidated Fire Protection District responded to a residential structure fire located at 9909 Knollview Drive in Spring Valley, California.

Spring Valley, California -- On Wednesday, October 7, 2004, at 2:34 PM, San Miguel Consolidated Fire Protection District responded to a residential structure fire located at 9909 Knollview Drive in Spring Valley, California.

While enroute, Truck 15's Captain, Mike Stein, reported Black Smoke showing from a distance. Engine 15's Captain, Theresa Cates, arrived on scene just four minutes after being dispatched, with an initial size up of a two-story residential structure, well involved, with an exposure problem to the east. Chief Ranalli who had been promoted to Battalion Chief just hours prior, assumed command and requested a second alarm.

A primary search was conducted along with exterior exposure lines being placed. The fire was declared controlled just 27 minutes after receiving the first 911 call.

A San Miguel Firefighter sustained minor injuries. The fire is still under investigation.
