Eight Michigan Departments Respond to Fully Involved Commerical Structure Fire

Eight surrounding fire departments were called to assist Kent City Fire Department in extinguishing a warehouse blaze on September 22, 2004 around 4:30 PM.

Kent City, Michigan -- Eight surrounding fire departments were called to assist Kent City Fire Department in extinguishing a fully involved building blaze on September 22, 2004 around 4:30 PM.

About a mile out from the scene, Kent City Deputy Chief reported smoke and asked for additional resources from Sparta Fire Department. Once on scene, the Chief requested assistance from six additional departments.

The building had bundles of shredded paper, tractor parts, and propane tanks which helped fuel the fire.

Sparta firefighters managed to save two semi tractors which were backed into the loading docks.

The fire was extinguished around 1 AM, the following day.

All firefighters and the IC did an excellent job in bringing this fire under control.
