Firefighters Face Water Shortage Battling Philadelphia, Pennsylvania Boat Fire

On October 2, 2004, at approximately 6:15 PM, a box assignment was struck for a boat fire in the Delaware River.

On October 2, 2004, at approximately 6:15 PM, a box assignment was struck for a boat fire in the Delaware River.

Engine 29 arrived on the scene and reported a vacant boat, the former "Chrome Nightclub," with heavy fire on the upper deck. Battalion 4 arrived on scene and put two engines, two ladder trucks and rescue in service. A special call was made for Marine Boat 1, manned by Pipeline 3.

Companies reported serious water problems and the third in engine was placed in service to assist in relay operations. Numerous master streams were used both on land and via Fireboat 1.

The fire was placed under control by Deputy 1 at approximately 6:45 PM.
