The Shelby-Benona firefighters responded to the intersection of Shelby Road and 40th Avenue in Benona Township for a vehicle fire.

Shelby Fire 205 (Lt. Warren Herring) relayed to Central Dispatch that we had a fully involved vehicle fire, and EMS was not needed.

Herring informed us to deploy an 1 3/4" hand line. Firefighters Joe Rodriguez and Matt Cederquist donned there SCBAs while Firefighter Roger Schultz Jr. engaged the pump and assisted in pulling the line. Command requested other crews to close the westbound lane and assist in traffic management.

Firefighters worked on extinguishing the fire that had spread to the hillside. Capt. Mark Burmeister talked with the vehicle owner and got report information and found out that it was a mid 80s Corvette.
