The Gastonia Fire Department responded to this 1999 Fleetwood RV fire at 11:51 a.m. on Thursday at I-85 near mile marker 14.
The rear of the vehicle and the car it was towing was heavily involved in fire. The southbound lane of the interstate was closed for a short time while firefighters extinguished the flames.
The fire originated in the rear of the RV. The cause is under investigation by the Gastonia Fire Department.
The RV and the Saturn Vue it was towing are a total loss. Estimated value of both vehicles is $75,000.
