Maryland Crews Respond To Fatal Crash

Emergency crews from Funkstown Fire and Boonsboro EMS Responded out for a head-on collision on Alternate Route 40 near Cool Hollow Rd around 20:14 hours.

SEPTEMBER 14, WASHINGTON COUNTY -- Emergency crews from Funkstown Fire and Boonsboro EMS Responded out for a head-on collision on Alternate Route 40 near Cool Hollow Rd around 20:14 hours.

Due to reports of the incident being head on, Medic 69 requested an additional Medic unit and MSP Aviation to be started. Crews arrived on scene to find a pick-up truck and Ford Explorer that had hit head on. Funkstown Chief 10 placed command in effect upon arrival.

It was initially reported to Fire & Rescue that they had two entrapments on the incident - one priority 1 trauma code and one priority 1 trauma. Due to the extensive extrication time, the priority one was down graded to a priority 4 (DOA). Crews were able to extricate the priority 1 by 20:37 hours. Boonsboro crews transported a priority one and a priority 3 patient to Washington County Trauma Center by ground. Company 10 and MSP remained on scene for approximately an hour for reconstruction teams and the Medical Examiners arrival.
