Illinios Firefighters Battle Flames, High Heat

Two firefighters were injured while battling a mid-afternoon house fire in Plainfield on June 24. Firefighters were called to the two-story home at 24549 West Willow Dr. at 1 p.m. A second alarm was called.Mutual aid was received from Bolling, Bristol-Kendall, Elwood, East Joliet, Homer, Lockport, Minooka, Naperville, Northwest Homer, Oswego and Troy fire departments. Over 40 firefighters responded and endured temperatures in the 90s as they worked to bring the fire under control.

One firefighter suffered heat exhaustion and the other was struck by equipment. Both were treated and released.

A resident of the house was transported to an area hospital.

Investigators pinpointed the area of origin as the basement laundry room.
