June 4, 2009
One firefighter suffered a minor injury

Around 7:30 p.m., on May 30, Cumberland Police discovered a building fire at Hopkins Terrace & Kelly Streets.

Members from Valley Falls began stretching lines. Firefighters were evacuated from the building as heavy fire took hold of the second floor and attic space extending through the roof.

The crew of Truck One setup the pipes on side one as additional crews worked with large lines on side four and from ground ladders in the rear.

Central Falls Ladder 1 was special called over the working fire assignment to the scene as mutual aid from Woonsocket & Lincoln covered empty firehouses.

Firefighters began to make progress on the overlapping fire around the 20 minute mark and the exterior lines were shut down to allow crews to reenter for an extensive overhaul operation which lasted into the night.

One firefighter received minor injuries. The Special Signal Canteen was on scene to provide rehab services.
