Weddington, North Carolina Firefighters Battle House Fire

Units from Providence VFD and Wesley Chapel VFD were dispatched around 6 am on Thursday, September 9 to Hunter Lane in Weddington, NC (Providence Fire District) for a structure fire.

Weddington, NC -- Units from Providence VFD and Wesley Chapel VFD were dispatched around 6 am on Thursday, September 9 to Hunter Lane in Weddington, NC (Providence Fire District) for a structure fire.

The caller advised flames were visible from outside the house.

First arriving firefighters reported heavy fire coming from the second floor with flowing blowing through the roof.

Command requested additional support from Waxhaw and Stalling Fire Department. Engine 322 and Squad 32 from Providence along with Engine 312 and Ladder 26 from Wesley Chapel were the first units to arrive.

Firefighters began an interior attack. Crews brought the fire under control in about 45 minutes. Units from Matthews and Charlotte were later dispatched to provide fresh crews for overhaul.

The second floor of the house was destroyed but all occupants escaped without injury. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
