On September 8, 2004 while heading back to the station from a motor vehicle accident, the Milan Area Fire Department was called to a vehicle fire behind the Pepsi plant on Main Street.

Engine 1 and Rescue 1 arrived at the same time, finding a motorhome fully involved with an exposure to a single family dwelling.

Crews immediately pulled multiple lines from Engine 1 and quickly knocked down the fire. However, the intense heat from the fire caused the siding on the home to melt.

A police officer at the scene stated that only smoke was showing at first and he tried to put the fire out with an extinguisher, but the flames were too stubborn. No one was hurt in this blaze.
