North Carolina Crews Respond to House Fire

Firefighters found heavy smoke showing from the front side of the residence.

The Gastonia Fire Department responded to this house fire on Trenton Street at 11:19 a.m. on Monday.

Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke showing from the front side of the residence. After entry was forced into the house, firefighters located the fire in the rear of the structure in the kitchen area.

Within minutes, the fire was under control. Initially, it was believed that someone may be in the house. However, as a complete search of the residence was conducted, no humans were found. The firefighters did save a dog. Members of Gaston Life Saving Crew attended to the pet.

The dog was transported by Gaston County Police Animal Control to be treated at an animal clinic.

The fire is being investigated by the Gastonia Fire Department.
