May 6, 2009
The fire was brought under control in 12 minutes.

On Monday, May 4 at approximately 7:30 a.m., a call was received by the Kern County Fire

Department for a structure fire in the 1900 block of Quincy Street in East Bakersfield. Approximately 19 Kern County Firefighters responded to the incident assisted by firefighters from Bakersfield City.

Crews were faced with a developing fire in a second-story room of one of the three units. The first engine crew made an attack on the fire while the other crews checked for fire spread and assisted with establishing a water supply.

Firefighters had the fire under control in 12 minutes and extinguished very quickly. Their quick actions prevented the fire from spreading throughout the other two units causing a lot more damage to the structure.

All units were vacant at the time of the fire. Firefighters were able to save approximately $150,000 of property. However, the fire caused about $30,000 damage.

There were no reported injuries.
