North Carolina Crews Respond to Bus Crash

All passengers were able to escape the bus

Just after 10:00 am Wednesday morning the Charlotte Fire Department along with area public safety agencies responded to a school activity bus crash on I-77 near downtown Charlotte.

As Police, medics, and firefighters arrived, officials reported that all the passengers were able to escape the bus. In approximately 30 minutes personnel were able to treat, stabilize, and transport 36 people injured to area hospitals. Those that were not hurt were taken to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Headquarters to re unite with their families.

First arriving CFD officials requested a second alarm assignment which brought which brought over forty-five firefighters to the scene to support this mass causality incident.

The scene was turned over to NC SHP to look into the cause of this crash. Additional firefighters were assigned to CMPD headquarters to support the uninjured children who were able to reunite with their parents
