The department also lost several pieces of equipment.

During the early morning hours of Saturday, April 11, the Silver Bluff Fire Department in Aiken County, S.C. and the surrounding area were hit by several tornados.

The Silver Bluff Fire Department lost their firehouse, a new pumper/tanker along with their first out pump and a brush unit. Luckily no one was at the station at the time the tornado hit because they would probably been seriously hurt or even killed.

The members of the volunteer organization were on there way to the station to render aid to their community at the time the tornado hit.

Chief Kerry Green was the first to arrive at there headquarters station to find what you see below. As he made the radio transmission to the dispatcher you could hear the crack in his voice as he advised them that his station was gone.

The Silver Bluff Fire Department is still providing service to there community with the one pumper they have left which was located at a substation along with the help of there neighboring departments.
