Delaware Crews Battle Blaze

Over 150 firefighters from 20 departments fought the blaze.

Delaware firefighters from two counties, battled an early morning, multiple alarm blaze on April 13 in Milford, Del. at a large commercial structure under construction.

First arriving crews found smoke pouring from the unoccupied Hampton Inn on Carpenters Pit Road, off Del. Rt.1 near 10th street at about 5:30 a.m.

As the morning progressed, conditions deteriorated and an exterior attack was ordered with thousands of gallons of water applied by crews utilizing three aerial devices, two master streams, and several handlines.

Over 150 firefighters from 20 departments fought the blaze, bringing it under control at 11 a.m. No injuries were reported. Early damage estimates are over $1M. The Delaware State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.
