The fire damaged three structures in Long Island.

Several Long Island fire departments were called to a mid-morning fire that damaged three structures in Oceanside on March 18.

Oceanside firefighters were toned out just about 9 a.m. for a garage fire on Davis Street. The first arriving unit found heavy fire from a three-car garage at behind a house.

The first engine stretched a 2 1/2-inch hoseline to knock the flames, which was fueled by several propane and acetlyne tanks in the garage. The intense flames consumed the garage and damage an adjacent home and garage.

Mutual aid was received from Baldwin, East Rockaway, Lynrbook and Rockville Center Fire Departments.

One firefighter was transported to the hospital with heat exhaustion.

Units picked up from the scene after three hours.
