New Jersey Crews Respond to Rowhouse Blaze

The blaze went to two alarms

On March 9 at 8:15 a.m., firefighters in Camden City, N.J. were called to a reported dwelling fire at 1281 Mortan Street.

Battalion 2 reported a two-story middle-of-the-row with heavy fire conditions on the first floor. There was also fire on the porches in both directions.

Squad 7's crew led off with a hand line to knock the exterior fire prior to going for the interior attack. The second alarm was requested as fire was spreading to the exposure.

Companies went in to operation with multiple hand lines. The rescue crews performed searches with negative results.

The fire was knocked as crews opened up to check for extension. No firefighter injuries were reported. The Camden City Fire Marshals have the fire under investigation. Multiple families were displaced from their homes due to fire damage. A total of six houses were affected by the fire.
