Busy Night for Virginia Firefighters

Feb. 17, 2009
Both fires are still under investigation

At approximately 6:45 pm a 911 call came in to Fairfax County 911 reporting a structure fire in the area of Oakland Ave, company 418 first due.

Company 418 arrived to find a garage well off with major extension into the house. There was also a car in the driveway involved. Command was quickly set up and units started making an attack into the home.

The fire was found to have extended into the first and second floor as well as the attic. Command requested 2 additional engines to the scene. The fire was brought under control quickly and overhaul operations started.

Not long after the initial arrival of Company 418 at this fire another structure fire was reported not too far away on Gallows Rd near Fairfax Hospital. First arriving units found a pool house for the surrounding community well involved. They made a quick knock on the fire and brought in the Haz-Mat team due to the possibility of pool chemical involvement.

Both fires are still under investigation at this time
