Jan. 6, 2009
Firefighters launched an aggressive attack.

It was New Years Eve around 8 p.m. when the tones sounded for a structure fire at the 7200 block of O'Malley Drive in Chesterfield.

First firefighters on scene reported the home fully involved.

Firefighters launched an aggressive attack and provided protection for nearby exposures.

Operations were challenging as Chesterfield was experiencing high wind gusts up to 30-40 mph after being under a high wind warning all day.Temperatures were also dropping rapidly which caused wind chills and freezing water. Black ice shined on the pavement, and crews called for sand.

The residents were not home at the time of the fire.

Engine 2 provided fill-in coverage at Station 11.

The fire is under investigation.
