Upon arrival, sole occupant stated there was a minor kitchen grease fire.

On Jan. 9, ten minutes after shift change, units were dispatched for a kitchen grease fire at a local BBQ resturant. Upon arrival, the sole occupant stated there was a minor kitchen grease fire.

Escambia County Battalion Chief established command and directed first arriving apparatus.

Ladder 12 arrived and positioned on Alpha/Bravo corner. The initial attack line was a 2 1/2-inch with smooth bore nozzle. An interior attack was initiated. Arriving engine companies secured a water supply, assisted with aerial setup, removed all burglar bars and forced remaining entry/egress points.

Due to progression of fire, location of fire and heavy load on lightweight trusses, the interior attack team was pulled from building. The Bravo side of building access door provided point for exterior attack. Three ladder companies were positioned to vent the roof.

Additional handlines were deployed to assist with fire suppression. 5 engine companies, 3 ladder companies, and 3 chiefs were on scene. Building was salvaged with only minor smoke damage to main dining room. Kitchen sustained heavy damage.

No injuries to civilians or fire personnel. Everybody goes home!
