Firefighters found heavy fire showing from the half story of a two-and-a-half story occupied dwelling. Ladder-1's crew vented the roof as Engine-2's crew brought a pre-connected hose line to the second floor.

Firefighters found heavy fire conditions in the attic area of the house. A 2.5" line was brought to the second floor to knock down the heavy fire. All occupants were out of the building prior to the firefighters' arrival.

Firefighters from Abington, Brockton, East Bridgewater, Hanson and Rockland assisted Whitman on-scene while an engine company from West Bridgewater covered the Central Fire Station.

The bulk of the fire was knocked down within an hour, and companies cleared the scene within around three hours. The fire may have been spread from a chimney.

Firefighters battled a fire at the same house four years ago.
