New York Firefighters Tackle Body Shop Blaze

Heavy fire was visible when crews arrived

Firefighters with South Blooming Grove Fire Department were dispatched about 10 a.m. Dec. 5, for a fire in an auto body shop and excavating business.

The first firefighters on the scene advised there was heavy fire and smoke visible.

They called for additional assistance which resulted in Monroe, Warwick, Washingtonville, Salisbury Mills, Harriman, Lakeside, Woodbury, and Chester fire departments being dispatched.

The fire was sparked while a worker was jump-starting a car. The battery blew up in his face, causing minor burns.
