Pennsylvania Firefighters Battle 5-Alarmer

Throughout the operation, the fire escalated to five Alarms.

During the night of Nov. 23, the Schuylkill County 9-1-1 Center dispatched the Shenandoah Fire Department and Lost Creek EMS to the old Davison's Furniture building on 121 North Main Street on the reported commercial structure fire.

Units arrived to find heavy fire venting from the building and endangering structures on both the "B" and "D" sides. A second alarm was required by the first arriving unit.

Throughout the operation, the fire escalated to five Alarms.

The fire ended up either damaging or destroying four buildings on the block. Over two dozen departments throughout Schuylkill, Luzerne, Columbia and Northumberland Counties worked all night to bring the fire under control.

Five ambulances from Schuylkill County also remained on the scene and three minor injuries were reported.
