Firefighters Suffer Heat Exhaustion Fighting Texas Apartment Fire

On June 10, 2004, Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department responded to an apartment fire at the Green Meadows Apartments on Keith Harrow Boulevard in Northwest Harris County, Texas, in the early morning hours.

On June 10, 2004, Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department responded to an apartment fire at the Green Meadows Apartments on Keith Harrow Boulevard in Northwest Harris County, Texas, in the early morning hours.

Cy-Fair District 3 along with Cy-Fair Ladder 9 arrived and reported heavy fire from an apartment building. District 3 immediately called for a second alarm, along with two tapps. Mutual aid companies from Westlake and West I-10 Volunteer Fire Department also assisted.

The fire destroyed the entire building. The red cross was called in to assist the families and residents who were displaced after the fire. The Harris County Fire Marshall's Office was contacted and is investigating the fire.

Several fire fighters were transported to a local hospital for heat exhaustion. All were released a short while later.

During the fire, a near by water plant lost power temporarily dropping the water pressure from the fire hydrants that were being used to supply the water to thr relay pumpers.

The following companies assisted at the fire: Engine 9, Engine 5, Engine 6, Engine 7, Rescue 3, Engine 3,Westlake,West I-10, Rehab 1, Ladder 9, Engine 8, District 1, Safety 1 & 2, District 2, #1, #2, #3, #5, #6.
