SEA ISLE CITY, N.J.- The volunteer fire departments from Sea Isle City and the Borough of Avalon in Cape May County responded to 65th and Pleasure Avenue for a report of a structure fire shortly after 19:15 hours on November 17, 2007.

First arriving crews encountered heavy fire from a three story wood frame dwelling. Mutual aid was requested from the Ocean View and Strathemere volunteer fire departments. The fire went on to level 6 buildings and heavily damaged two others before being contained several hours later.

Ironically, these buildings were rebuilt on the site of which another fire of the same intensity destroyed several structures in 1997. The cause of the fire is under investigation by investigators from the Cape May County Fire Marshall's Office.
