On Friday, Nov. 2, at 10:42 a.m. Maryland's Wicomico County Central alerted Station 6 (Parsonsburg) and 74 (Delmar) for a motor vehicle collision with rescue, on Downing Road near the intersection of Wintergreen Place.

Command 6 with Captain L. Tyler responded followed by Rescue Engine 604 commanded by Assistant Chief E. Tyler and Paramedic B.6.

The units from Parsonsburg arrived and found a passenger car that had hit two trees, a culvert and came to rest in ditch.

Captain Tyler established "Downing Road Command" while Assistant Chief E. Tyler was assigned "Rescue Operations". Delmar's Rescue 74 arrived and under the supervision of Deputy Chief D. Scott, went to work with Rescue Engine 604's crew.

Both companies removed the roof, front doors and performed a dash roll. With the great teamwork, the patient was removed from the vehicle in about 10 minutes and loaded into Paramedic B.6 for transport to Peninsula Regional Medical Center. During the extrication, Traffic Control 74 and the Parsonsburg Fire Police secured the area for traffic safety while the Maryland State Police began their investigation.
