Florida Crews Respond to Serious Wreck

Crash injured five people, including one child

Firefighters from Florida's Winter Garden Fire Rescue, Ocoee Fire Department and Orange County Fire Rescue were called to a motor vehicle accident on Oct. 3.

Multiple calls indicated that the accident was serious due to a head-on collision between two vehicles at a blind curve.

First arriving units reported heavy entrapment of one male patient, light entrapment of a female patient in the same vehicle and three other Basic Life Support patients in the second vehicle, including one child in a car seat.

Winter Garden Battalion 24 assumed Command, with Ocoee Battalion 25 providing Safety. Patient care was supervised by Orange County EMS1, with further support provided by Orange County Battalion 1.

Crews from Winter Garden E23 and Ocoee E25 were first able to remove the female patient for transport, and then started extrication on the male patient. They were joined by Orange County Fire Rescue Squad 3 and Rescue 28, and after about 30 minutes of extensive work, removed one Advanced Life Support patient from the vehicle. Multiple Health Central Ambulance units provided transport to two area hospitals.
