Massachusetts Firefighters Tackle Blaze

On Oct. 9, Rockland, Mass. firefighters responded to a report of a house fire at 641 Liberty Street.

Companies arrived to find a burned victim at the rear of the building with an outside fire that appeared to have extended into the occupied 1.5 story wood frame residential dwelling.

The burned patient was quickly attended to by Rockland Fire paramedics and was transported to the South Shore Hospital. Fire crews had found that the fire had extended into the dwelling and traveled up to the second floor and to the attic space. The roof was vented where they found heavy fire conditions.

Crews from Abington, Hanover, Hingham and Weymouth assisted Rockland on the scene while a ladder from Whitman and engine company from Norwell covered their station. The fire was knocked down in approximately 30 minutes and crews spent a good amount of time overhauling the building.
