New York House Burns

One resident received minor burns.

City of Glens Falls firefighters were alerted to a house fire at 5:15 p.m. on Sept. 26.

First arriving firefighters found heavy smoke and fire showing from a two-story dwelling at 40 Sherman Ave.

Two additional alarms were sounded. Mutual aid was summoned for the Bay Ridge and West Glens Falls Fire Departments to provide cover assignments for the city fire stations.

Firefighters made a quick attack with a deck gun from engine 2, followed by an aggressive interior effort. The fire was brought under control.

One resident received minor burns when she attempted to extinguish the fire before exiting the dwelling.

The blaze was investigated by the City of Glens Falls Cause and Origin Team. An extension cord is believed to have sparked the fire.
