Maine Firefighters Respond to Structure Fire

Pets are believed to have perished.

At approximately 3 p.m. on March 30, Farmington Fire Rescue was dispatched mutual aid to Wilton for a structure fire on Orchard Drive.

Wilton Engine 7's crew marked on scene with heavy fire showing. Farmington Tower 3 and Engine 2 arrived shortly after with Tower 3 taking position on side A. Personnel on Engine 2 assisting those on Wilton engine 7 with water supply.

The tower crew stretched a line through the front door where they encountered heavy fire conditions. Crews attempted to make a attack on the second floor but were unable to due to high heat conditions.

Due to heavy fire, crews were pulled out. Tower 3 was repositioned to gain better access, and then crews went to work knocking down the fire in the attic with the master stream.

Crews spent the rest of the evening overhauling the fire.

Other responding departments included, East Dixfield, Temple, Chesterville, Livermore, Livermore Falls, Jay Fire and NorthStar Ambulance Service. The Red Cross was called on scene to help the victims.

Owners were not home at the time of the fire. Some pets may have perished. Maine Fire Marshal Office was called to investigate.
