At 5 p.m. on April 24,2007, the Camden City, N.J. Fire Department received numerous calls reporting a dwelling on fire in the 2100 block of Sewell Street. Firefighters on Engine 9 arrived and reported a two story twin fully involved.

Crew members laid into the job and led off with a 2 1/2" blitz line. Engine 11 arrived and supplied Engine 9, 3 Truck arrived and began checking the exposures on the "D" side. Battalion 2 struck the second alarm on his arrival.

Because there were other calls occurring within the city limits, mutual aide companies from Collingswood (Rescue 16) and Pennsauken (Ladder 112) were dispatched on the second alarm along with other city companies.

The fire was placed under control at the 40 minute mark. There was one resident from a neighboring dwelling checked out for possible smoke inhalation. The City of Camden Fire Marshals Office is investigating the origin and cause of the fire.
