Coldenham, New York FFs battle 2 Alarm House Fire

Numerous handlines were also placed in service and the fire was under control in about 90 minutes.

At around 11:30 am on Sunday June 24 the Coldenham Fire Department was alerted for a house fire on Rt 17K opposite the East Coldenham School. Incident Command 2nd Asst Chief Walt Miller was advised by dispatch of multiple calls and viewed a large plume of black smoke in the sky, he immediately requested a 2nd alarm.

2nd Asst Chief Miller arrived on scene and reported a large vacant 2.5 story frame with heavy fire on the 2nd floor and through the roof. An exterior attack was immediately ordered and Winona Lake TK-325 along with Coldenham TK-205 both set up for master stream operations. Numerous handlines were also placed in service and the fire was under control in about 90 minutes.

Assisting Coldenham on scene were units from Orange Lake, Winona Lake, Maybrook, Montgomery, Stewart Air Guard, City of Newburgh, Town of Montgomery Ambulance, Mobile Life Support Services Rehab Unit and the Town of Newburgh Police. The cause of the fire which heavily damaged the home is under investigation by the Town of Newburgh PD.
