Pennsylvania Firefighters Respond to Explosion

The cause of the explosion is being investigated by several agencies.

Shortly after 9 p.m., volunteers from Fallowfield Township in Washington County, Penn. were dispatched to the site of a methane gas drilling rig for reports of an explosion with unknown injuries.

Neighbors stated that they saw a large amount of fire along with hearing an explosion. As crews arrived on scene a working fire was evident and no one on the site was injured by the blast. Workers stated that they were not sure what caused the explosion and that the area was safe to enter.

The brush truck was used to extinguish the fire along with a few dry chemical extinguishers. Units remained on scene for about an hour to cool hot spots and watch for any rekindles.
