Delaware Divers Search Submerged SUV

Once enough divers were on scene, Dive Operations began to search the vehicle for possible patients.

On Monday, Oc. 27 at 8:13 a.m., Sussex County (Delaware) Emergency Operations Center alerted Station 84 (Millville) for a reported water rescue at Quillen's Point, just off of Cedar Neck Road.

The water rescue was dispatched as a Priority 1 incident, bringing in Selbyville (Station 88) and the Ocean City (Maryland) Fire Department's Dive Team along with Sussex County EMS, Delaware State Police Trooper 2 and the Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control.

84 Command, with Lieutenant Doug Scott, responded and once on the scene confirmed a vehicle of some type was in the water. It was unsure if any victims were in the water. Marine 84 was launched and began a search of the area along with Trooper 2 from the air.

As the incident began to take shape Command began assigning various positions including Safety Officer, Dive Operations and Public Information Officer. Once enough divers were on scene, Dive Operations began to search the vehicle for possible patients. Once divers confirmed no patients in or near the vehicle, a tow company began removal of the vehicle from the water.

Companies were placed available at 9:11 a.m.
