New Jersey Firefighters Battle Scrap Yard Fire

Engine 8 arrived and requested the box be filled.

On Sept. 29, Engine 8 was dispatched for rubbish in the area of 6th and Atlantic at 9:25 p.m.

Engine 8 arrived at Camden, N.J. Iron and Metal Scrap Yard to find heavy fire conditions in the yard requesting the box to be filled out. Squad 7, Ladder 2, Ladder 1, Rescue 1, Battalion 1 and Car 4 were added on the box.

Battalion 1 arrived and confirmed a large pile of "fluff" on fire at the scrap yard filling out the all hands box. Squad 7 secured a water supply as Ladder 1 set up for master stream operations.

A 2.5 -inch hand line was placed in operation along with the Tower Ladder.

The fire was contained to the pile with no injuries to firefighters.
